Kristen Swanson was born December 19, 1969, in Mission Viejo, California. She dreamed of becoming an actress as a child, and got her start at the age of nine, appearing in a TV commercial for a dollhouse. By the time she was 13, Kristy had appeared in over 30 television ads. At this point, she gave up regular schooling to concentrate on acting, and her parents, who were physical education teachers, provided Kristy with home instruction. Around the same time, the Swanson family relocated to Los Angeles.
She began her professional career at the age of nine in a commercial for a dollhouse. Since her auspicious debut, Kristy Swanson has moved on to work in several TV series, and has been featured in over 30 theatrical and made-for-TV movies. While she never really became a household name, her starring roles in The Chase (1994), Higher Learning and particularly Buffy have won her a cult following.


She didn't always make the greatest decisions when it came down to choosing roles; case in point was playing a medieval peasant trapped in the body of a showroom dummy for Mannequin 2: On the Move (1991). She was given greater opportunity to perform in Buffy and The Program (1993), where her athletic abilities were showcased.
Kristy Swanson may not be the greatest thespian in Hollywood, but this woman is seriously sizzlingly hot. And having originated the role of vampire-slaying Buffy Summers must count for something.
